Even as a 16-year-old traveler of Asia, the doctor Aglaja Stirn was fascinated by primal cultures and their body art. She keeps travelling to India and living with archaic tribal societies in the Himalayas. There she studies the tattoos and piercings of the headhunters and has experienced how closely the tattooing and piercing process is associated with rituals and life rites.
